FIELD OF DREAMS

Summer is my absolute faaavorite season. I’m happiest when the sun is out and the weather is warm! Also, this dress makes me feel sooo pretty, and I’m sad to be retiring it for the year (even though I wore it all the time).

This was a really exciting shoot for me because these pictures were taken by an ACTUAL PHOTOGRAPHER. It was kind of an up-in-the-air plan at first - we didn’t have a location in mind, and I originally didn’t intend to wear this dress. At 6 pm I raced home from work, changed, then drove to the location and made it just in time. Thankfully we were able to capture “golden hour” and play with different lighting before the sun disappeared. It was really nice having someone else behind the lens - I could move around freely and didn’t have to worry about having to strategically hide the remote shutter I use when I take my own pictures. I got to twirl around in the field, head back, smiling and laughing. However, I diiid freak out a few times (which is documented, and I’m making some veeery unattractive facial expressions) because I thought bugs/undesireable creatures were on me (#TheyWerent).

Often times I struggle with the mindset of “everything happens for a reason,” but this photoshoot very much felt like it was meant to be. Those who know me personally know that I’m a spiritual person. I’m not going to dive into too much detail on this post, but I do want to share a little bit. Something I see everyday are repeating numbers (111, 222, 333, etc) or certain number sequences (262, 303, 711 etc). I’ve been seeing the number sequence 919 consistently for about 6 months. I never know what the numbers mean at the time (or at all), but when I was going through the photos afterward I realized they had been taken on September 19th. I found it funny because the shoot was originally supposed to be a few days prior, but we changed it at the last-minute. Sure, you could argue that I’m reading too much into it or that it’s just a coincidence, but I take it as a sign that this was something I was meant to experience, I’m on the right path (as far as creative projects go), and to also stay open to other signs of encouragement, even if they aren’t necessarily revealed in an obvious way.

All of that aside, I’m just really happy and thankful that I had the opportunity to collaborate with another creative soul, who helped give me the perfect way to say goodbye to summer.
